SortRight
A friendlier way to sort the planet

Sort right.
Live light.

Most of us mean well at the bin and still get it wrong. SortRight is a small, kind guide for everyday choices: what goes where, what swaps actually matter, and where the nearest drop-off lives.

No signups. No guilt. Just better aim.

The four bins

It really comes down to four piles.

Almost everything you throw away belongs in one of these. Tap any to see exactly what fits, and what surprises live there.

What you can do here

Four small ways to start.

You don't have to overhaul your life. Pick one. Come back tomorrow.

Did you know?

The numbers are bigger than the bin in your kitchen.

Three facts pulled from the world right now. Refresh for a different cut.

Common mistakes

The four things almost everyone gets wrong.

Don't worry, we did too. Here's the corrected version.

Compost

Greasy pizza box

Grease contaminates paper recycling. Compost the soiled parts; recycle clean lid.

Trash

Receipt (thermal)

Thermal paper is coated with BPA/BPS, which contaminates paper recycling.

Try instead: Ask for digital receipts.

Trash

Plastic grocery bag

Tangles recycling machinery. Take to a store drop-off instead.

Try instead: Use a reusable tote.

Hazardous

Worn-out t-shirt

Don't trash textiles. Donate or use textile drop-offs even if torn.

Try instead: Cut into rags first.

We don’t need a handful of people doing zero-waste perfectly. We need millions doing it imperfectly.

One small thing

Start with one habit this week.

Compost coffee grounds. Refuse a plastic bag. Bring batteries to a drop-off. Pick whatever feels easiest. That’s the point.
